Following a visit to Japan and visiting one of the editions of Van Gogh's sunflower I was inspired by the techniques he used. I decided to work on floral arrangements and experiment with light and color.
This floral painting showcases a vibrant bouquet of flowers arranged in an elegant cream-colored vase, set against a softly textured neutral background. The composition bursts with life, featuring radiant sunflowers with golden petals and dark centers, delicate roses in shades of pink and red, and lush peonies or camellias with intricate, ruffled petals.
I tried to blend realism with impressionistic brushwork, capturing the richness of each flower while allowing for expressive strokes that add warmth and depth. The interplay of light and shadow enhances the three-dimensional quality of the arrangement, while the muted background ensures the vivid colors take center stage.
